A traveller's shelter of yore
The travellers' shelters , made entirely in stone with minimal decorative carving ,were built by the kings of yore for the travellers who had to travel considerable distances in those days entirely on foot . These beautiful shelters have survived centuries of heat and rain and are still seen in many parts of South India although some of them are crumbling and need some renovation. The thirsty traveller can also find a well very close to the shelter where he can drink water.
